Ten of our staff members attended the highly sought after and sold out ‘Sarah Mee Wrist Workshop’, presented by Consultant Hand Therapist, Sarah Mee from the United Kingdom and Ben Cunningham from Melbourne.
The workshop included sessions on the complex anatomy of the wrist, common pathologies experienced, differential diagnoses, treatment strategies and up to date evidence supporting the latest treatment protocols. The wrist workshop was an interactive experience with Sarah and Ben sharing their wealth of knowledge as well as the participants contributing with current case studies and questions. A greater understanding of conditions such as triangular fibrocartilage complex injuries, distal radius fractures, and scapho lunate injury was gained. The complex world of midcarpal instability was investigated and splinting options were discussed in detail.
Our therapists enjoyed the two day workshop and gained much practical knowledge to help to refine their clinical reasoning, assessment and treatment skills. It was also an opportunity for our staff to connect with therapists from interstate and discuss current trends and treatment methods being used across the country.
The workshop outlined that there is always more knowledge to gain and other treatment methods to investigate in an area that changes so rapidly with new evidence coming to light each week about wrist injuries. This advanced workshop was a hugely beneficial experience for all of our therapists and no doubt also for our patients with wrist injuries.
